Travel tips: Zaandam, NL

Ten minutes by train or 15 minutes by car is the small quaint city of Zaandam north of Amsterdam. The Zaan is a river which divides the city. Central station leaves you just a few minutes walk away from the main sight, this characteristic huge hotel below. It is a photography mission as there are so many cute angles to reach. There is a boulevard on both sides of the canal from here on with shops and restaurants to visit. But Zaandam is also just worth driving around to see the quaint suburbs such as Koog aan de Zaan.

Nearby is Zaansche Schans which is a famous windmill park where you can have tea and delightful snacks such as strawberries dipped in chocolate on a kebab stick in summer. A lovely afternoon though  in any season though!
