Autumn in the ’Green Heart of the Netherlands”

In the middle region, south east of Amsterdam towards Utrecht, one meets “de groene hart van Nederland.”  Nestled between Utrecht and Southern Province lies the farming and natural green fields of the Netherlands.

Tranquil scenes of dairy and sheep farming with cheese farms in the area, the landscape spans miles of green pasture fields, cattle grazing, horses, country stiles and lovely wet muddy fields for those clogs. There are cycle and walking routes galore within authentic country living landscape with not a bus or tram in site.

Free standing houses all have castle like moats, but really quite broad canals, on either side of the road and only one car can drive at a time. Sunrise and sunset are in full view if you walk to the clearer spots with church steeples in the distance of all surrounding quaint villages. Enjoy the scenery from my daily walks. Next time I will blog about the local villages I cycle to and thereafter one the closest mini town of Woerden which has ancient Roman roots.

Country roads… take me home…. To the place…. I belong….
