Adorable Mijas - Spain 🇪🇸

Travelling and meeting people enables good recommendations! A Latvian lady I met in the park while we were both picnicking, told me I had to visit and although it had not been on my itinerary, I did. Absolutely a must visit for anyone on the Costa del Sol. It’s high in the mountains and far from the sea, but the ocean is still visible in the distance all over this small incredibly charming village. On the east side of Malaga is Frigilina which is comparable.  The icon of Mijas is the donkey. It meets you by monument and a row of donkey taxis. In the museum donkeys are shown carrying olives in baskets from all the olive farm  for centuries up the steep mountain roads.

Cards with little skirts on them for the flamenco dresses!

The Donkey is this town’s symbol  and I have a photo of me on the bronze model next to the tourism office

The walk up tiled Spanish stairs to the top of the town which is a bull ring and one huge botanical garden. The bull ring museum is also a a must see as its small and really quaint, putting bull fighting firmly in the past.
Many boutiques shops and cafes along the way
Lovely terracotta Spanish colourful knicks and knacks

Lovely leather items, smell divine!

Tourism is a Goldmine for Spain and they give much in return. Pretty flowers and pots everywhere no matter the season, village or town

This railed edging allows you to walk the perimeter of the town and see how how high up you are

The long and winding road …..bus drivers are heroes! Tiny and hair raising corners to high up on the mountain
