Travel tips: Brussels Belgium

An afternoon in Brussels is always nice to practice your French  “ou es la centre de ville, je vous en prix, je voudrais un pain avec fromage et un cafe Americain so vous plait “.  Although I’ve been learning Spanish the last six months I noticed my old rusty French is still better!

As I had flown to Malta via Charleroi dans le sud, I trained back to NL via Brussels.  Brussels South-midi is definitely a no go area and I was surprised that the Brussels main train station was also a bit gloomy, despite its enchanting main entrance. Also quite a few homeless, one walking the station barefoot in winter and a few empty alcohol bottles outside  yet there were foreigners sweeping and cleaning the interior and stairs which is relatively clean. Met een Franse slag zou ik zeggen!

Brussels churches and monuments are quite far spread out and dotted around the main Modern architecture of European Union glass window buildings. The main square though, de Markt is adorned in gold touches to an entire square of intricate, cathedral and building design and is quite something to behold. Even on an early Sunday, breakfast cafes and Swiss chalet like restaurants were all open and there were tourist groups.

One really should zoom in on this to see just part of the delicate artistry in which the mail Cathedral is sculptured.
