Travel trips: Gorinchem & Woudrichem

It is always nice to spend some vacation time at home and by taking some day trips. The Netherlands has plenty of little villages that delight and provide a good change of scenery.

Gorinchem in the south, east of Rotterdam is a tiny place with a lovely church and small shopping streets to wander. The main square hosts the museum, a lovely monumental building with green ivy and a huge water fountain.

The ferry at the tiny harbour takes you to Castle Loevestein, where there are also nature walking paths and little inlet beaches on the river Maas (verdampt).

On the ferry back which comes every hour or half (unclear as without downloading the app there are no paper boards), the cuter little  village Woudrichem is definitely worth a visit. The ice-cream parlour opposite the main church was buzzing and here they had a little public transport electronic indicator. The village has canons overlooking its harbour and beautifully maintained old houses and barracks. Hard to imagine that people live there, but for sightseeing a must see!

Gorgeous hollycocks!
