Travel Tips: Gaudis’ Barcelona

Gaudi, I’d say is the father of Barcelona. His majestic artwork is to be seen in the whole Catalonian culture and of course La Sagrada Familia, with which he was appparently obsessed. Then there is Casa Batlo, Parque Guell and the fountain in Parque Ciudad.

There is much to be said but in works so mesmerizing I think talk is cheap. Gazing upon the beauty and the mind behind it is far better. Zooming in on the photos for detail is worthy of your time. The only other thing I will say, is that it’s tragic that Gaudi died in a tram accident. They were probably new in the early 1900’s and maybe he wasn’t looking where he was
going! His work though, lives on forever….. There are some fun facts about him below…

Casa Batlo

And the building next to it

Gaudi never married, Picasso didn’t like him and saw him as a religious fundamentalist. Gaudi was known as God’s architect.  The street lanterns in Plaza Real were designed by him and still stand today. When Gaudi put up a building without a square line in the middle of conform industrial straight buildings, the working class hated it and he was highly criticized.

Gaudi fountain below in Parque Ciudad. Sit and have a coffee here and take in all its beauty. It’s massive btw. To photograph the width you hardly see anything.

And then of course there is La. Sagrada Familia! At night. I could not get an entry ticket (booked out for the week) so plan well in advance! I don’t like obligations and timetable on holiday but here I was wrong. But it gives me an excuse to visit again.

Area has two parks with lovely trees.

               Always colourful detail….

Couldn’t resist the bubble man…

It’s beauty is just incredible!!!! Een echte trekpleister voor tourism natuurlijk.
Chapeau Gaudi!! 🫡🇪🇸
